Private jets pollute up to 14 times as much as commercial planes and are undertaxed in US, report says

  • Not only that, but you can get reimbursed for using your private plane for business travel. Ridiculous.

Just ban private jets. There are so many things we could just stop doing, but they make rich assholes unhappy. That's true for like all of humanity, but the scale is global now instead of just "the peasants are eating dirt" Though now I'm thinking of a story where someone infiltrates their way into being the pilot for a rich asshole, and then jumps out and lets the billionaire blow up in the crash. Noting that down for my near-future dystopia tabletop rpg.

“Private flights, used by an estimated 256,000 people (just 0.003% of the world’s population), are the most polluting form of transport, producing direct carbon emissions 10 to 14 times greater per passenger than commercial aviation travel, the report said.” I expect this 10 to 14 times greater to be calculated using the nominal passenger capacities. Since private jets are bound to fly more often at low capacity (to pick up a dress for example), the real difference is going to be much higher.
