(I wholeheartedly agree - the only time it gets hairy is when doing stupid tunneling tricks ipv6 over ipv6 because of the extra overhead + path mtu)

@oxy@social.bsdlab.au MTU will adjust typically on the fly and only become an issue with extremely big links (but those are running jumbo and are carefully managed). Good thing is, just use it, you don't need to micro manage it like vintage IP. Cool things like QnQ/VXLAN work perfectly fine. GRE, not so sure it has the scope to be more modern (VXLAN is typically used now).
