For most of my life I could do about 1 year with a pair of shoes with daily use, so each year a new pair of shoes With all huge price increases nowadays I’m in my third year with this pair, there is just nothing left for that At first I thought I did something wrong but I’ve come to see that’s it’s probably more the level of unfairness in the current state of the world perhaps I’m just mad and sad about a lot of things, like many of us I suppose

@stux@mstdn.social I found that with WFH my shoe consumption declined to pretty well zero. I used up slippers rather faster though.

@stux@mstdn.social if you know your size and brand, try setting up an ebay search... I have that for my size and a brand that tends to work for me. And sometimes ai can get a new-ish pair of one i wore out! Bit of a gamble, sometimes duds, but still much cheaper than new.

@stux@mstdn.social I think piracy will make a comeback. The prices of subscription bundles on various streaming services are skyrocketing. On top of that, ‘purchased’ films and programmes can suddenly vanish from your library. This can’t end well if buying doesn’t mean owning.

@stux@mstdn.social I’m surprised it’s so much more there than it is in the US. I’m paying $15.99/mo currently.
