cut over work’s postgres db from RDS to a normal debian VM and it’s literally over 11x cheaper to run this way

I’m still thinking about this and how the usual wisdom is like “oh I don’t want to have to worry about running my own database” “happy to pay to not do the ops ourselves” but I have spent more time upgrading a ruby gem than I have setting up this db server with proper backups and wal shipping off site (let’s call it 2 days)
