#curses I now see at least one reason you would call wgetch over simply getch. It eluded me for a long time.

#snac is a GREAT example of how something can be degrowthed for good. At first after using snac (coming from mastodon for example), you feel like the UI is too minimal. Then you realize it's not minimal at all, it's just getting out of your way. You focus on the messages and not on the interface.

That feeling when writing where you want to clarify something you have already written, but you suspect that the clarification will produce more confusion than it fixes.

I like the new CLI argument style of simple words and nesting/levels with no leading dashes.

Hot take: Here is one of the bad things of "the industry"'s obsession with scale. It makes doing a thing once and fast become trivialized. If it's at scale then it's always on. Like 10 of them are always on. And that leads to trivializing efficiency and startup time. It also leads to trivializing the runtime complexity of the OS / system. So that is creepily the programmer for one, giving up an aspect of the art of programming (optimization and efficiency). And two,...

I did some work on my house a week or so ago. I took down this ratty wood cover roof thing that was attached to the side of the house. It needed to come down because it was falling apart, but also it was the way I assume squirrels were getting into my house. There was a hole in the shingles right above it so I assume they would get to the little roof from a tree, and then easy access into my house :( I couldn't get to the hole also because the roof was blocking the way if i used a ladder,...

Can people "post" stuff to a person's INBOX if they don't have any relationship? (in ActivityPub) That might explain why I have a single instance snac server, and still get basically spam posts. I know I get something similar to that when there is like a secondary relationship thru someone i am following. But these things I see seemingly have no connecting relationships. #activitypub #snac2 #snac

One saying "they are not a luddite" but they are actually closer to being a luddite than they think and that is a compliment. This post brought to you be me wanting to reply to someone and since I don't know them i won't :)

A nuance that non-programmers won't get about LLM/AI adoption. Specifically Anthropic is tailored to "not good" programmers and project managers who think they "are good". The agent/LLM makes it easy for these types to pretend to do stuff. This works because 1. Corporate software is filled with these types. 2. Corporate software rarely finishes projects, so no one notices how crap it is. #llm #agentic #badsoftware

One of the constant problems with western society and capitalism and individualism ... The MESSAGE is what matters not who sent it. NOT who OWNS it. Like we are so steeped in cults of personality that we don't see it. Even very leftists do it. ANY NAME dropping is this. Sure the name can be a reference to an idea but 9 times out of 10 the name itself is the idea. (that's the problem) Because they are different. I am human. I change my mind ... like always. Moreso my mind is usually...

I feel like I kinda do this. I stopped masking my open feelings of being overwhelmed and agitated. Like i let my hands move, and don't try to close my open mouth and glazed expression. It kinda is like being greyed out. It's like that whole thing of I don't need to make it easier for other people, when they are the ones making it difficult for me.
