#PianoMusic #JukeboxFridayNight I thought I was done for the night, but YouTube reminded me that Donald Fagen plays beautiful piano. He often calls in session musicians for various parts, though, including piano. The credits on the album say Fagen is playing piano on this song. #PianoMusic #JukeboxFridayNight Okay, here's Elton again with that wonderful, lively piano outro beginning at 4:50. I considered linking to the live version of this song (on the album17-11-70) where he improvises on piano for 16 min or something like that. But I like this studio version. (I have no idea if anyone else is linking to these songs....) Burn Down the Mission - Elton John https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=OS2QZvisrkM

#PianoMusic #JukeboxFridayNight My first thought was the Elton John album "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player." But I needed to find a song, not an album, and this is the best I found so far. I'm just looking at EJ albums that I owned and am very familiar with. "It's hard to write a song with bitter fingers So much to prove, so few to tell you why Those old die-hards in Denmark Street start laughing At the keyboard player's hollow haunted eyes"...

#AlternateFridayMusic #vitriol This is a very loose association. I was thinking vitriolic ➡️ angry / mean / cruel. Then, looking around, I saw "Cruella de Vil" and decided the "Vil" could be short for "vitriol." Okay, whatever. Take it however you want. :) Cruella De Ville - The Replacements https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=5wrybBZsDx0

#AlternateFridayMusic Sept 25 2026 The prompt is #bleak Oh Lordy. The prompt for the Thursday game today was melancholy ... and now we've got bleak. Here's my first stab at it. Maybe all is not completely bleak. Look around Leaves are brown And the sky Is a hazy shade of winter Hang on to your hopes, my friend That's an easy thing to say But if your hopes should pass away Simply pretend That you can build them again Hazy Shade of Winter - The Bangles https://music.youtube.com...

#books #ArtBooks #art #ModernArt #ChildrensBooks I was just reminded of a wonderful book I had as a child that provides an introduction to modern art. It's long out of print, but you could pick up a used copy from various booksellers. I see several copies for less than $10. I highly recommend this book to anyone with young children - or to anyone, actually. I'm linking to this listing because it has some images of the interior. I'm only familiar with this hardback version, so can&...

@donutage@mastodon.social @reinomusic@mastodon.nl @mrowster@linernotes.club Ha. I don't know that one. What also comes to my mind because I very nearly put it on my Lifetime Playlist this a.m. is Joni Mitchell's "In France They Kiss on Main Street."

RE: https://sfba.social/@jeridansky/117299406449410531 Wow. "Away in Hawaii for a wedding, doctor Shalesh Gupta checked video footage from his Beach Road home and realized that his patio collapsed into the ocean. The waves had destroyed his seawall. The bedroom and living room fell next." And that video loop in the article is mesmerizing. I read a wonderful book "The World in a Grain" that's all about sand. There's a part discussing beach erosion and why beach &quo...

#JukeboxFridayNight #PersonalPlaylist — songs with personal signficance. I couldn't think of anything that didn't remind me of someone who died or some other sad thing. I thought, isn't there anything happy? And then I remembered, oh, "Glad," hahaha. In high school, I participated in a skit (part of a big show) where several girls and I were supposed to be playing oysters. We wore white leotards and had long ropes of pearls, which we swung as we danced to "Glad."...

#ThreeGoodThings 1. I got new computer glasses that are actually correct! The backstory is that I have been trying for 2.5 yrs (you read that correctly) to get a Rx that works better than my 2022 glasses. The ophthalmologist I've been seeing has given me two different incorrect Rx's. So I gave up and went to a new optometrist who is the bomb. He's super nice too, unlike the other doc. 2. It started raining lightly, but heavily enough and there are still enough leaves on the trees...
