Those who attended our lecture at St Bride yesterday can rest assured: the British are still busy viewing both the library (room 55) and the stylus (room 10a) of Ashurbanipal in the British Museum.

@eWalthert @triple Pfoe, that’s a serious loss for them, but also for the entire design community. Maybe the design community can now do something for them…?

In the past year we had 2 solo exhibitions (the Netherlands and Japan) and participated in 2 group exhibitions (United States and China). Currently our work is shown again in another group exhibition, the Tokyo TDC exhibition at Ginza Graphic Gallery in Tokyo, briefly showing the holographic principles of the typeface Herby. Have a look (till 16 May) if you’re around. https://www.underware.nl/blog/2026/04/holographic-principles-on-display/

Congrats Ayoub with winning the award for the best Dutch theatre song! Some might know Ayoub for the first auditive performance of our Oneword language in our Amsterdam studio 2 years ago during the Sounds from the East festival. #anniemgschmidtprijs #theonlywayisup

News! We’ll give a lecture on Thursday 23 April 2026 at St Bride in London, UK. Title: Circular Reasons Approach: Using circular reasoning as a starting point to arrive possibly at a new perspective. (Trying something new also means that it may fail) We’ll present 5 alternative stories, or should I say histories of writing, in order to see our own work from a different perspective. More info & tickets: https://www.underware.nl/blog/2026/03/circular-reasons/

Since a few years we’ve been designing and producing writing fonts, with the writing dynamics included in the font file. In case you want to know what is involved, watch our ATypI lecture. Eg: new terminology is required once type is designed in time, because how fast is a “default” speed and is there a unit to describe this? There are a lot of conventions for relations in space (eg kerning), but there is a need for similar terminology for relations in time (tuning). ☞ https://www.underware.nl/b...
